Public art work Timber! has been completed on the Hiedansilta bridge in Tampere, Finland. The work is part of the Ratikka Art project and draws inspiration from the wood industry history of the Lielahti and Hiedanranta area. The three-meter-tall “light logs” of the Timber! light installation depict the movements of a log – from its felling in the forest, to its swaying on the waves while being floated to the mill. After dark, the installation is visible across the extensive waterfront areas of Hiedanranta and Näsisaari. Watch a video of Timber! by Mikko Vares on youTube.
