My permanent public art work Forest Sounds was opened in December 2018 in Angered suburb in Gothenburg, Sweden. The work in a light traffic underpass tunnel depicts sound waves and woods reflecting from water. The work consists of wall paintings and laser-cut steel plates on both sides and the ceiling of the tunnel. The lights behind the wall plates change color tone from warm to cold.
A small piece of Finnish nature is also now in Angered – the work includes a soundtrack recorded at Finnish forests and lakes. The sound is one year and all its seasons in nature, there are sounds of birds, wind, swimming and rain, for example.
Forest Sounds is part of the Safe, beautiful city -project in Gothenburg, and was made in collaboration with White architects. Special thanks to Inka Jurvanen for her help with the wall paintings. Read more about the project in Swedish here or here. Scroll down for more info and images.
Each of the six wall plates is different. The size of one plate is 200 cm x 76 cm.
Ceiling light covers have tree branch patterns. Each light has unique branch pattern.
During the bright hours of the day, before the lights go on, the wall paintings and green color of the laser cut plates are visible.
