In kinetic installation Phaser two large vinyl mesh fabrics are hanging next to each others, and programmed devices slowly push the fabrics closer together. The movement of the viewer and the pushing devices create constantly changing moire patterns, that effect viewers´ perception of the distance of the fabrics. In 2018 I made the installation in three different formats in three different galleries in Southern Finland.
Phaser in Muu Cable Factory Gallery, Helsinki, 2018
In Muu Gallery there were three double vinyls, height of each pair 420 cm, width 320 cm, depth 24 cm. Materials: vinyl mesh, steel, aluminium, stepper motors, acrylic and electronics.
Phaser in Uusi Kipinä Gallery, Lahti, 2018
Size of both wood frames: 280 x 280 cm, depth 90 cm. Materials: vinyl mesh, steel, aluminium, wood, stepper motors, acrylic and electronics.
