Materials: watercolour on paper, size: 150 cm x 95 cm.
The basis for Writing the Landscape is a photograph I took at Kuusinki river, which is a trout river close to my childhood home in Northern Finland. A lot of my personal memories, good and bad, are related to that river. I used brush and ink to write adjectives from the view, words that describe the nature objects and elements in the photo, feelings and memories that the view brings me. The words are located in the corresponding areas to where their origins are in the photo – the writing on the large water color paper is a magnification from the digital photo, but now the words are the pixels. The work was shown in In-Out -exhibition in Haihatus, Joutsa.
